Romantic Date Ideas
As creative as we all are, we can all be clueless when it comes to romance. When you take that special someone out, you want to be sure to make a good impression, and show your soft side. If it’s a first date, be prepared to wine and dine. If you’ve already has a couple of dates, make your effort a little more personal.
A first date is your opportunity to impress your romantic interest with your knowledge of fine foods and romantic selections. No, the diner down the street isn’t what I’m talking about. Sure, that moonlit walk down the road is a good start, but walking into a brightly lit diner and being served by Flo isn’t exactly what you would call romantic. You want to pick a restaurant that has ambience. Nice, mellow lighting, cloth napkins and a good wine selection. Are you catching the drift here? Be sure to request a good table, so you don’t get any kitchen noise and can enjoy your first date in true romance.
After your date is over, take a nice stroll around town. Enjoy the shops along the street and do some window shopping. You might find that you have more in common by looking in store windows. If there is a coffee shop nearby, wind up there by the end of the walk. Order up some double nonfat café mochas and enjoy each other’s company. The first date is getting to know each other better, so keep the conversation going and the laughs rolling. Always remember that the way a person remembers you best is when you keep them talking about themselves.
If you’ve already had a few dates, and you want to keep that romantic side alive, there is still a world of opportunity waiting for you! You’ve done the romantic restaurants, you’ve done the walks along the pier, what now? Make your romantic interest dinner. No, you’re not bringing them home to meet mom and dad, after all it’s only been a few dates. You want to impress your date with your skills in the eh-hem, kitchen. Plan to make something not incredibly complicated, but not as simple as sticking a box in the microwave and hearing it chime in four minutes. A nice chicken dish with a side vegetable will suffice. Follow up with a nice dessert. This can be store bought; after all you’ve already put so much effort into making the perfect dinner! Ice cream or chocolate mousse is always a good way to go! End the date with a romantic comedy, to ensure plenty of cuddle time.
When you make dinner at home, remember to light a few candles around the house to set the mood. Having fresh flowers in vases always help in the romance department. End the date with a nice kiss. If you think your romantic interest is still a little shy in the love department, give them a kiss on the hand. It will send chills down their spine and leave their heart racing. Who knows, they might reciprocate a kiss to you.
There are so many options when it comes to planning the perfect date. You can go with the simple romantic dinner, or reach out for something a little different. We have pulled together a list of romantic date ideas that will be sure to impress your sweetie.
- The simple romantic dinner. This is always a good way to start off your dating experience. Be sure it’s a nice restaurant with soft lighting. Ordering up a bottle of wine always spells romance in the air. Go with a red for red meat and dark sauces. Go with a white wine for white meat and fish. If the restaurant has live entertainment, it always makes a nice touch. Don’t go too far here, you don’t want to drown out the conversation with loud music. Nice subtle mood music is best.
- A walk along the beach. Yes, we admit it, it sounds so stereotypical, but we wouldn’t say it if it didn’t work. So get out there and go for a moonlit stroll around the beach. Not near a beach? Go to a park. It’s fun to smell the flowers and hear birds chirping. It brings out romance in all of us.
- Go to a museum. This will give you a chance to look at priceless works of art and your date will be able to show off their knowledge of the finer things in life. Art museum not up to either one of your alleys? Most cities also have cultural centers, where you can both explore different parts of the world together, without leaving your own city. Try that out for a spell.
- Go for a picnic. That’s right, dust off that old picnic basket, pull out a blanket and head for the nearest park. You can put together a basket full of sandwiches and macaroni salad, or you can load it up with cheeses and wine. Be aware of the park you’re going to, as some public parks do not allow alcoholic beverages on the premises.
- Go to the nearest promenade. Most promenades offer street entertainment and window shopping. It would be fun for both you and your date to explore what the promenade has to offer. Usually in the evening there are vendors selling flowers that you can buy for your date.
- Go to a romantic movie. Gentlemen suck it up, you want romance, let a movie create it for you! This way you can get your date to cuddle up to you in a darkened movie theater and treat her for ice cream afterwards.
- Go hiking! Getting out there in the sunshine and explore nature to ensure some quality alone time with your date. You will get to smell the fresh air and see how fit and athletic your date really is!
No matter what your taste, romance can be stirred up anywhere. All you have to do is put your mind to it and go forward. You will be sure to score some major brownie points with your date and enjoy yourself as well!
